Karpal Singh denies insulting police

PENANG: DAP chairman Karpal Singh has denied insulting the police at a talk in Air Itam.

The Bukit Gelugor parliamentary seat candidate was commenting on a police report lodged against him and party secretary-general Lim Guan Eng on statements purportedly made last Wednesday.

"Neither Guan Eng nor I have attended any talk in Air Itam so far," Karpal Singh said, adding that he was campaigning in Seri Delima at the time.

"According to a newspaper report, we called the police 'lazy and good for nothing'. Aside from not even being at the event, I do not use these types of words," Karpal Singh said.

The seasoned lawyer said he would be applying for a copy of the police report.
