GEORGE TOWN, MON: The Penang state government has been urged to conduct an independent review of several mega projects proposed for Penang to ensure they are suitable and viable.Citizens for Public Transport (CEPAT) co-ordinator Nizam Mahshar said these included the Penang Outer Ring Road (PORR) and the Light Monorail Transit (LMT), which would cost some RM5 billion.
“We hope the state government will conduct an independent review of the projects before approvals are given.
“And we hope the results of the review would be made public,” he said in a statement today.
Nizam said although CEPAT was not against the projects, the non-governmental organisation (NGO) felt the need for a thorough and independent review.--NST
