New Penang CM To Be Announced In A Day Or Two

PENANG, March 8 (Bernama) -- The new Penang Chief Minister would not be announced tonight but in a day or two, Tan Sri Dr Koh Tsu Koon said Saturday.

Koh, the current Chief Minister, also asked the people in the state to be patient to hear the announcement.

He was speaking to reporters after casting his votes at the Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Tanjong Bungah which is in the Bukit Bendera parliamentary constituency.

Koh, who has been Penang Chief Minister for 18 years, stepped down from the post to contest the Batu Kawan parliamentary seat in this general election.

After voting, Koh visited the polling centres in Baru Kawan's three state constituencies, namely Perai, Bukit Tengah and Bukit Tambun, about 70km from here.

Asked about his feelings now, smiling, Koh said: "I am calm and my blood presssure is good although I lack sleep and have been eating little."

He also urged voters to come out to vote, saying: "The weather in fine as though today is a blessed day."
