Federal-Kelantan Government Relations Incomplete If BN Not Voted In

KOTA BAHARU, March 2 (Bernama) -- Relations between the federal and Kelantan governments are not complete if the people do not vote in the Barisan Nasional (BN) in the general election on March 8.

Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak said the BN taking over the state government would enable the "healing" and major transformation of Kelantan without any obstacles in the way.

"Prime Minister Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi and I are really sincere and committed to bring development to Kelantan. I am appealing that the BN be given the opportunity to do this by voting it in," he said at a dinner function of the state's civil servants here tonight, with over 1,000 of them present.

Also present were Najib's wife Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor, Higher Education Minister Datuk Mustapa Mohamed, Deputy Finance Minister Datuk Dr Awang Adek Hussin, State Secretary Datuk Aiseri Alias and Kelantan Umno liaison chief Datuk Seri Annuar Musa.

Najib said the role of the state's civil servants was important to give a new direction in the general election. "I am appealing that you choose the BN as a service to Kelantan," he said.

"Actually, the people of Kelantan are not only capable of developing the state but also the nation as many of them have leadership qualities.

"That is why I have asked to allow BN to govern the state for a term to bring development. If we fail, then it is up to the people of Kelantan again to decide," added Najib who left for Kuala Lumpur after the dinner.
