One of robbers shot dead is local, belonged to Mamak gang

PETALING JAYA, Tues:

The items found in the car of the three robbers shot dead on Monday led police to believe that one of the dead was linked to a notorious gang here.

Police found a police vest, uniforms, handcuffs and other police outfits in the car along with several parang, toy guns and other weapons used in their robberies.

Selangor Criminal Investigation Department chief SAC II Mazlan Mansor said one of the three robbers was a local and that he belonged to the notorious Mamak gang.

Checks also revealed that the local man had 14 previous criminal records.

“We believe that they made the police outfits to be used in their robberies. This was the Mamak Gang’s modus operandi,” he said.
Yesterday, police shot dead the three robbers said to be responsible for at least 30 cases or armed robberies.

Their victims have always been those leaving banks after making large withdrawals.

On Monday, the three had earlier robbed a bank customer of RM10,000 in Kelana Jaya. A police team on their rounds spotted the robbers and cornered them after a short chase.

The robbers who were armed with parangs were shot dead when they tried to attack the policemen.
